THIS PLACE IS A SHELTER

This place is a shelter is an installation merging musical score and photo-based materials. Paluzzi explores tonality as a shared concept in music and photography—where pitch, duration, and intensity shape sound, and light and dark define photographic tone. This work reimagines the darkroom as an instrument, using its timer, filter, and aperture to translate piano notes into unique light frequencies. Each grey rectangle represents a note in sequence, forming a visual score of 233 notes. As Paluzzi’s first translation installation, it forges an intertextual connection between the two mediums, transforming photographic processes into a musical composition.
